Biografie

Joanna Wozny (*1973, Zabrze/PL) studierte Philosophie in Katowice sowie Komposition und Musiktheorie bei Gerd Kühr und Beat Furrer in Graz, wo sie auch noch heute lebt. Ihre Werke wurden u. a. durch das DSO Berlin, RSO Wien, Ensemble Recherche sowie das Ensemble PHACE aufgeführt und erklangen auf zahlreichen Festivals wie Wien Modern, Ultraschall-Festival Berlin, Warschauer Herbst, musikprotokoll Graz und ISCM World New Music Days 2013. Sie erhielt diverse Auszeichnungen (Österreichisches Staatsstipendium für Komponisten, SKE Publicity Award u. a.). Joanna Woznys Schaffen umfasst das gesamte Spektrum der Instrumentalmusik von Solo- und Kammermusikwerken bis zu Ensemble- und Orchesterkompositionen. Daneben entstanden auch elektronische Kompositionen sowie Werke für Chor und Gesang.

Biography

Yulan Yu (geb. 1990 in Jiangmen, China) begann ihre Musikerziehung in der frühen Kindheit (Klavier, Chorsingen). Sie nahm Kompositionsstudium an der Kunstuniversität Graz mit Professor Klaus Lang und schloss ihr Masterstudium erfolgreich ab. In vergangenen Jahren hat sie mit den Ensembles Schallfeld, Zeitfluss, Stadler Quartett, Schola Heidelberg, Shanghai Sinfonietta, usw. gearbeitet. Ihre Werke wurden im Rahmen des Festivals Musikprotokoll, SchauSchall Fest, glazbena tribina opatija, usw. aufgeführt. Auftragswerke von impuls academy, open music, Ensemble Zeitfluss, Ensemble Nikel, usw. Sie ist zugleich als Musikerin (Keyboard, Guzheng) in verschiedenen Richtungen tätig (Neue Musik, freie Improvisation, experimentell, Electronik, usw.). Darüber hinaus versucht sie eine Verbindung zwischen den ungewöhnlichen und den herkömmlichen, den simplen und den mysteriösen, sowie den westlichen und den fernöstlichen Klängen herzustellen.

Biography

Antonis Rouvelas was born in Papadianika (Laconia, Greece) in 1987 and from 10 years old he started working with music in local unions.

In 2006 he was admitted in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – Department of Music Studies and the year after he was accepted to study composition with Dimitri Papageorgiou.

In September 2012 he was accepted in the Master’s Program at the University for Music and Performing Arts of Graz, studying composition under the supervision of Beat Furrer.

From January 2016 he is a PhD student in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – Department of Music Studies.

He has been selected for composition competitions, call for scores, closed-type seminars and scholarships such as: Composition Workshop with Beat Furrer and DissonArt ensemble (Music Village, 2011), Pierluigi Billone’s masterclass PAS-E (Venice, 2012), 5th PanHellenic Composition Competition in memory of Dimitris Dragatakis (2nd prize, 2012), Tellogleion Arts Institution (scholarship, 2013), Composer Collider Europe project (ensemble Musikfabrik, 2017), etc. 

He has been performed and received commissions by numerous ensembles and organizations such as the Athens State Orchestra, the Schallfeld ensemble, the DissonArt ensemble, the Zeitfluss ensemble, European Recorder Players Society, the A4M Performing Arts Group, the workshop New Greek Composers nowadays, the composers association die Andere Saite, the association NOW, etc.

His wider interests include the multimedia art and the performance of middle-eastern music.
